Adel Al-Hasani to JSC: Calling to Support the Victims of Torture in the UAE prisons in southern Yemen, Demanding an End to Cases of Impunity for Perpetrators of Documented Crimes against Humanity
Commemorating the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, JSC held a virtual meeting with Mr. Adel Al-Hasani, discussing “Victims of Torture in Emirati Prisons in Yemen” via Zoom on Saturday evening, July 3rd, 2021
Al-Hasani exposed the various forms of torture he was personally subjected to in the secret prisons of the UAE (with more than 24 known headquarters in southern Yemen) and what other detainees have been subjected to, more than 48 of whom died under torture, while the fate of dozens remains unknown.
Appreciating the important role that the media must play in uncovering crimes against humanity in torture detention centers and pressuring for an end to cases of impunity for perpetrators and seeking to bring them to justice, Al-Hasani emphasized the vital impact of journalists and activists through social media to support victims of torture, call on for providing necessary needs for them and their families, especially with some of them suffering serious and sustainable injuries, and exposing the blatant violations of human rights.
