Journalist Support Committee (JSC): The ''Israeli'' Occupation Deliberately Targets Palestinian Journalists in Gaza and the West Bank to Block them from Reporting

The JSC has confirmed that the ''Israeli'' occupation deliberately targets Palestinian journalists in Gaza and the occupied West Bank to prevent coverage and redact the Palestinian narrative to the world, concerning the ''Israeli'' aggression towards unarmed civilians.

Saleh Al-Masri, chairman of JSC in Palestine, said in a press statement on Friday, September 20, 2019, that the Israeli soldiers deliberately open fire on Palestinian journalists while covering the 'Great March of Return.' This is evident by the large number of injuries that has exceed 422 cases among Palestinian journalists, in addition to the killing of journalists Yasser Murtajah and Ahmed Abu Hussein.

Al-Masri said that the journalist Abdul Rahman Al-Kahlout was wounded on Friday by the Israeli occupation bullets in his foot; note that he had been hit three times while covering the marches.

Al-Masri said about 104 journalists had been hit by live and explosive bullets since the onset of the 'Great March of Return,' in March 2018.

He pointed out that the occupation deliberately fire at journalists in Gaza, the West Bank and Jerusalem, in order to obscure the truth and the Palestinian narrative to the world, stressing that journalist Ahmed Shawar has injured on Friday, during the suppression to the demonstrators, by the occupation soldiers, in Kafr Qaddum, in the city of Qalqilya.

The chairman of JSC has appealed to international bodies, led by the International Federation of Journalists; Reporters without Borders; UNESCO and the Special Rapporteur of the UN Commission on Human Rights; to press the occupation to halt its aggression and its deliberate targeting of Palestinian journalists.
